Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, has commended the Girls’ Innovative Waste Management Project, which recently received recognition at the Global Sustainable Technology Challenge (GSTC). Speaking at an event to celebrate the achievement, Mrs. Anani highlighted the significance of empowering young girls to lead in sustainable solutions for environmental challenges.
She described the project as a “remarkable example of creativity and commitment” that aligns with the Federal Government’s agenda to promote environmental sustainability and youth involvement in technology and innovation. Mrs. Anani urged stakeholders to support such initiatives that nurture future leaders and address critical issues like waste management in Nigeria.
The GSTC Girls’ Award-winning project focuses on innovative approaches to waste reduction and recycling, aiming to create cleaner communities and promote sustainable living practices. Its success at the international level has brought much-needed attention to grassroots innovation driven by young Nigerian girls.
