Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged real estate firms in the state to lower rental costs to ease the financial burden on tenants.
Speaking on Monday at the 13th anniversary and annual convention of Property World Africa Network (PWAN) Marketing Company in Asaba, the state capital, the governor—represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Johnson Erijo—appealed to real estate developers to find ways to make housing more affordable.
“I would like to use this opportunity to appeal to real estate organizations to help reduce the cost of rents on rented properties. The current skyrocketing rents are unsustainable, especially for public service workers. I urge you to apply your innovative skills to find solutions that make housing more affordable,” he said.
Governor Oborevwori also commended the leadership of PWAN, acknowledging its role in transforming the real estate sector.
“As we reflect on PWAN’s journey, we must applaud the visionary leadership that has propelled this company from its humble beginnings in 2012 to becoming a key player in Africa’s real estate sector. Over the past 13 years, PWAN has not only expanded its market presence but has also redefined excellence in real estate. Its ability to adapt, innovate, and provide top-tier real estate solutions has earned it the trust of clients and investors nationwide,” he stated.
Dr. Obioma Onwumere, the Global President and immediate-past Group Managing Director of PWAN, described the company as more than just a real estate business, calling it an “empowerment industry.”
“This is a gathering of entrepreneurs here in Asaba. PWAN Group is not only engaged in real estate but is also an empowerment platform. Our mandate is that each affiliate empowers ten people, who in turn empower another ten, creating a continuous cycle of empowerment. Together, PWAN will transform the face of empowerment in Nigeria,” he said.
Following his appointment, the Acting Managing Director of PWAN Group, Prof. Julius Oyedemi, pledged to uphold the company’s vision and continue its mission of innovation and growth.
