Djokovic Reaches Miami Final, One Win Away from 100th Title

Novak Djokovic cruised past Grigor Dimitrov 6-2, 6-3 to reach his first Miami Open final since 2016 and move within one win of his 100th career ATP title.

The 37-year-old Serb, who has won 24 Grand Slam titles, was dominant throughout the match, breaking Dimitrov’s serve multiple times and committing just five unforced errors.

Djokovic, who will face either Jakub Mensik or Taylor Fritz in Sunday’s final, is eager to reach the milestone of 100 titles. “Ever since I won my 99th [title], which was the Olympic Games in Paris, I’ve been playing with the prospect of winning the special 100 titles,” he said.

The windy conditions at the Miami Open seemed to affect Dimitrov more, as Djokovic adapted his game to outmaneuver his opponent. “These were tricky conditions. Very swirly. The wind was not consistent, changing a lot. It’s not easy to find control of the ball,” Djokovic said.

With this win, Djokovic becomes the oldest ATP Masters 1,000 finalist ever, at 37 years and 10 months old. He will look to add to his impressive resume on Sunday, with a victory securing his 100th title and seventh Miami Open crown.
