Education Ministers Applaud First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s 65th Birthday Gesture, Urge Support for National Library Fund

September 3, 2025 – Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, and Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, have hailed the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for marking her 65th birthday with a symbolic gift to the nation by requesting donations to the National Library Fund in place of personal presents.

The Ministers described the First Lady’s action as a remarkable display of generosity and vision, stressing that it underscores her lifelong commitment to education and belief in the transformative power of knowledge.

According to the Ministry of Education, the National Library Fund is central to the Federal Government’s plan to reposition Nigeria from a resource-based to a knowledge-driven economy. The Library is regarded not merely as a building but as a national symbol of learning, opportunity, and progress for future generations.

The initiative, the Ministers noted, aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which consistently prioritizes education as the foundation of national renewal. The administration has pledged to improve learning environments across all levels of education, ensuring that Nigerian youths are better equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a dynamic global landscape.

The Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to supporting this mission and called on Nigerians across the public and private sectors, civil society, and individuals to contribute to the National Library Fund, stressing that collective support can help secure a brighter educational future for the nation.
