Egypt Steps in as Host of 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Egypt as the new host of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, replacing Cote d’Ivoire who pulled out due to unforeseen circumstances.

Cote d’Ivoire was originally scheduled to host the tournament from April 26 to May 18, but their withdrawal has led to Egypt taking over the hosting responsibilities. The country previously hosted the 2023 edition of the competition.

The 2025 U-20 AFCON has been rescheduled to start on April 27, with the Flying Eagles of Nigeria drawn in Group B alongside hosts Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa.

The top two teams from each group will automatically qualify for the knockout stage, while the best two third-placed teams will also secure quarter-final spots. The semi-finalists will earn automatic qualification for the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile.
