The Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) has sanctioned 13 staff members for various offenses, including sexual misconduct, abandonment of duty, and other violations, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to discipline and ethical standards.
Commitment to Discipline and Accountability During a press briefing ahead of EKSU’s 29th convocation ceremony, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Ayodele, reiterated that his administration is unwavering in its stance on upholding discipline among staff and students.
“Our administration detests all forms of malfeasance, and those involved in any form of indiscipline have been appropriately dealt with in accordance with the University’s rules and regulations,” Ayodele stated.
Breakdown of Disciplinary Measures Providing further insight, Ayodele disclosed that:
i. Three staff members were dismissed for abandoning their duty posts.
ii. One staff member was dismissed for sexual misconduct.
iii. Nine employees had their appointments terminated for various infractions.
iv. Three staff members were barred from holding leadership positions for three years.
v. Twenty-one employees received official warnings for lesser offenses.
EKSU to Graduate Over 16,000 Students EKSU is set to celebrate the academic achievements of students from the 2022/23 and 2023/24 sessions at its convocation ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2025.
A total of 200 graduates will be awarded first-class honours, while:
5,406 students will graduate with second-class upper division.
9,076 students will receive second-class lower division.
1,295 students will earn third-class degrees, while four graduates will be awarded a pass.
162 PhD degrees, 242 master’s degrees, and 61 postgraduate diplomas will also be conferred.
EKSU Appreciates Governor Oyebanji for Increased Funding The Vice-Chancellor commended Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for raising the university’s monthly subvention from ₦260 million to ₦410 million. He noted that this increase has boosted staff morale, ensured academic stability, and helped clear outstanding salaries and allowances.
“We congratulate the Governor of Ekiti State and Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Omoluabi Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, in whose tenure these great improvements are happening,” Ayodele remarked.
Honorary Degrees to Be Awarded As part of the convocation ceremony, EKSU will confer honorary doctorate degrees on distinguished individuals, including:
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele
Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji
Board Chairman of the Bank of Industry, Dr. Mansur Muhtar
EKSU reaffirmed its dedication to academic excellence and ethical integrity, while recognizing outstanding contributions to leadership and service.
