Emmanuel Dennis Set to Return from Injury Next Week – Blackburn Manager Confirms

Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis is expected to make his return to action next week, according to Blackburn Rovers manager Valerien Ismael. The 27-year-old, currently on loan from Nottingham Forest, has missed Rovers’ last two Championship matches against Portsmouth and Middlesbrough due to injury.

Ismael confirmed that Dennis will be rejoining the squad alongside fellow injured players Callum Brittain and Augustus Kargbo, offering a much-needed boost to the club’s attacking options. Dennis had shown positive signs prior to his injury, providing an assist in Blackburn’s 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City at Ewood Park.

“This week won’t be possible for some who are injured, but we’re hopeful they will be back next week to give us more options and a different profile,” Ismael said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

The manager also provided encouraging updates on the squad’s general fitness after their recent match against Middlesbrough, confirming no new injuries had been sustained. “We’ve not lost anyone from the game against Middlesbrough, which is good news. All the players have recovered, and that gives us the possibility of making changes,” he added.

Dennis has faced challenges since his high-profile move to Nottingham Forest after Watford’s relegation. Despite his promising performances during the 2021/22 Premier League season, where he netted 10 goals and registered six assists, his playing time at Forest has been limited. This prompted his loan move to Blackburn, where he will hope to regain form and possibly earn a place in Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming Four-Nation Invitational Tournament in London this summer.
