Abuja, June 21, 2025 – In a move aimed at boosting youth empowerment and vocational training, Engineer Suleiman Adamu Momoh has formally handed over the Agadagba Skills Acquisition Centre to the Federal Ministry of Youth Development.
The handover ceremony, held at the centre’s premises, was attended by officials from the Ministry, community stakeholders, and representatives of various youth groups. The facility, designed to provide practical training in trades such as tailoring, carpentry, ICT, welding, and agriculture, is expected to serve as a hub for capacity building and job creation for young Nigerians.
Speaking during the event, Engineer Momoh described the initiative as part of his personal commitment to national development through skills enhancement and community service. He noted that the growing youth population in Nigeria presents both an opportunity and a challenge, and urged stakeholders to invest more in sustainable vocational programmes.
“Equipping our young people with practical skills is one of the most effective ways to combat unemployment and social vices,” he said. “This centre represents a vision for empowerment, self-reliance, and national productivity.”
Receiving the facility on behalf of the Federal Government, a senior official from the Ministry of Youth Development praised the gesture and affirmed the Ministry’s readiness to manage and fully operationalise the centre. The Ministry outlined plans to integrate the centre into its national youth skills programme and ensure that it reaches its full potential in developing competent artisans, entrepreneurs, and job creators.
Local leaders and youth representatives lauded the handover as timely, especially in rural and semi-urban communities where access to structured vocational training remains limited. They called for continued public-private collaboration to replicate similar projects across the country.
The transfer of the Agadagba Skills Acquisition Centre to the Youth Ministry marks a significant step toward realising the Federal Government’s agenda for youth empowerment and national economic inclusion.
