Federal Government Allocates N777 Billion for Completion of Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road

The Federal Government has committed a substantial N777 billion to complete the ongoing reconstruction of the 700-kilometer Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road. This major infrastructure project is a critical artery connecting the Federal Capital Territory to over 12 states across the North Central, North West, and North East geopolitical zones, playing a vital role in the socio-economic life of northern Nigeria.

The allocation is part of President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure development agenda, aimed at enhancing connectivity and economic growth in the region. The project, which includes the installation of solar-powered street lights and CCTV cameras along the route, is expected to create job opportunities, boost security, and transform the socio-economic landscape of the region.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has emphasized that the project will be completed within a 14-month timeline, with a focus on delivering a high-quality, durable road that will last between 50 to 100 years. The road’s reconstruction is divided into manageable segments to ensure timely completion and quality assurance.

The government’s commitment to this project reflects its determination to address the long-standing neglect of this critical infrastructure, which has historically hindered economic growth and caused accidents due to its poor condition. With this significant investment, the Federal Government aims to provide a reliable transportation network that supports regional development and national integration.
