News Report – July 21, 2025:
The Federal Government has officially announced the 2025 edition of the Build-A-Thon Holiday Camp, a nationwide initiative aimed at equipping Nigerian children with practical technology and innovation skills during the school break.
The programme, which is being coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, is designed to introduce children between the ages of 12 and 16 to foundational knowledge in areas such as robotics, artificial intelligence, software development, and hardware engineering.
According to the Minister of Communications, Dr. Bosun Tijani, this year’s camp will hold simultaneously across all six geo-political zones of the country, beginning in August 2025. He stated that the initiative aligns with the government’s strategic commitment to preparing young Nigerians for the fast-evolving global digital economy.
Dr. Tijani noted that children will be mentored by top technology professionals and innovators from within and outside the country. He added that the hands-on learning environment would nurture creativity, boost confidence, and inspire a generation of young tech talents to solve real-world problems using technology.
Registration for the camp is now open on the ministry’s official portal, and interested participants are encouraged to apply early due to limited slots.
The Build-A-Thon Holiday Camp was first launched in 2023 and has since become a flagship youth development programme, drawing hundreds of participants annually. This 2025 edition promises to be even more robust, offering young Nigerians a rare opportunity to innovate, collaborate, and explore careers in science and technology.
