FIRS Boss Hosts JTB, State Revenue Chiefs to Strengthen Tax Collaboration

Abuja | June 18, 2025

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, on Tuesday, welcomed a high-powered delegation from the Joint Tax Board (JTB) and several State Internal Revenue Service (SIRS) Chairmen to the FIRS Headquarters in Abuja.

The delegation, led by JTB Executive Secretary, Mr. Olusegun Adesokan, visited the FIRS as part of ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration between federal and state tax authorities.

In his remarks, Dr. Adedeji emphasized the importance of harmonized tax administration in driving national development and boosting internally generated revenue (IGR) across the federation. He reiterated his commitment to reforming Nigeria’s tax system into a more efficient, transparent, and technology-driven model that works for all tiers of government.

The meeting provided a platform for the exchange of ideas on best practices, digital tax innovations, data sharing mechanisms, and enhanced inter-agency cooperation.

Mr. Adesokan, in his response, commended the FIRS for its leadership in pushing forward tax modernization reforms and assured of the JTB’s readiness to support initiatives that promote fiscal sustainability across the country.

The strategic engagement is expected to lay the groundwork for more unified approaches to tax collection, taxpayer education, and fiscal accountability across Nigeria’s revenue landscape.
