Gbajabiamila Urges Political Leaders to Prioritise Welfare of Ordinary Nigerians

ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, has appealed to political officeholders and influential members of society to show greater compassion and responsiveness to the needs of everyday Nigerians, especially those facing economic hardship.

Speaking during a recent public engagement in Abuja, Gbajabiamila emphasised that true leadership is measured not only by policies and power but also by empathy and proximity to the people. He noted that millions of Nigerians continue to struggle with the basic necessities of life, and called on those in privileged positions to intervene meaningfully.

“In a time like this, political leaders and people with means must go beyond rhetoric and truly connect with the needs of the people around them,” he said. “Our responsibilities go beyond the office; they touch on the lives we impact directly.”

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed that the success of any administration depends largely on how well it addresses the concerns of ordinary citizens. He called for deliberate acts of kindness, people-centered programmes, and collaborative solutions aimed at alleviating poverty and promoting social inclusion.

His remarks come against the backdrop of growing economic challenges, rising inflation, and public calls for increased transparency and support from government officials.

Gbajabiamila reaffirmed the current administration’s commitment to policies that promote equity and social welfare, adding that every effort must be made, at both federal and community levels, to ensure that no Nigerian is left behind.
