Gov. Makinde Applauds Nigerian Air Force’s Pursuit of Excellence as Finance School Opens in Ibadan

IBADAN — Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its unwavering commitment to excellence, discipline, and professionalism, as the newly constructed NAF School of Finance and Accounts was formally inaugurated in Ibadan on Tuesday.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Makinde described the establishment of the finance training institution as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s defence sector, which also aligns with his administration’s vision of positioning Oyo State as a hub for military and academic excellence.

“This school is not just a testament to NAF’s commitment to institutional development, but also a reflection of the synergy between military and civil authority in fostering national growth,” Makinde said.

The Governor hailed the Nigerian Air Force under the leadership of Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar for its strategic efforts in enhancing the capacity of its personnel through training, education, and infrastructural investment. He added that the new school would not only serve the military but also provide an economic boost to the host community through increased activities and opportunities.

Air Marshal Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, in his remarks, stated that the establishment of the School of Finance and Accounts underscores NAF’s resolve to professionalise its operations by investing in the training and retraining of its personnel. According to him, the school will serve as a centre of excellence for financial discipline, accountability, and administrative competence within the Force.

“This institution is designed to equip our officers with the right financial management skills in line with global best practices, and to ensure transparency and fiscal responsibility in all our engagements,” Abubakar stated.

The event attracted top military officers, members of the Oyo State Executive Council, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries, who lauded the collaborative efforts between the state government and the Armed Forces.

Governor Makinde reiterated his administration’s readiness to continue supporting initiatives that promote education, security, and institutional development across the state.
