Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the welfare of workers across the state. This affirmation was made during the Central Working Committee Meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) held in Lokoja on February 11, 2025.

In recognition of these efforts, the National President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajero, commended Governor Ododo for improving the economic welfare of workers in the state. He urged the state government to recruit additional civil servants, particularly in the education and health sectors, and reconsider the prohibition of unions in the state.

Further affirming the administration’s commitment, the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) lauded Governor Ododo for prioritizing civil servants’ welfare and ensuring that citizens feel the impacts of democratic good governance. The union’s National President, Comrade Sunday Adeleye Oluwole, highlighted that Kogi State was the first in Nigeria to approve and implement the new national minimum wage of ₦70,000 for its workers. In recognition of these achievements, the NCSU bestowed the “2024 Best Governor in Nigeria” award upon Governor Ododo.

Governor Ododo’s administration has also focused on infrastructural development, undertaking the construction and illumination of crucial roads in the state, including the Zone 8-Crusher and Zango dual carriage roads. These projects aim to enhance mobility and boost economic activities within the state.

As Kogi State continues to navigate economic challenges, Governor Ododo’s reaffirmation of commitment to workers’ welfare underscores the administration’s dedication to fostering a motivated and secure workforce, essential for the state’s overall development.
