Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji made an unannounced inspection visit to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital on Monday to assess progress on the construction of an 80-bed multipurpose ward.

The governor, who shared photos from the visit on social media, confirmed the facility would be equipped with modern healthcare equipment upon completion to enhance service delivery. “This new ward will significantly improve healthcare quality for our people,” Oyebanji stated during interactions with the site engineer and construction workers.
Oyebanji emphasized his administration’s commitment to project accountability through regular unscheduled inspections. “Routine checks remain central to our governance approach – ensuring quality and value for money in all ongoing projects,” he noted while urging contractors to meet delivery timelines.
The teaching hospital project forms part of the state government’s healthcare infrastructure upgrade program. Health sector observers have praised the governor’s hands-on monitoring approach as a model for project supervision in Nigeria’s public sector.
No completion date was specified for the facility, which is expected to ease patient congestion at the state’s premier teaching hospital when operational.
