In a landmark development aimed at promoting greater inclusivity, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has announced that the Arafat Khutbah during Hajj 2025 will be translated live into 20 languages.
The initiative, which significantly expands on previous efforts, is designed to ensure that millions of pilgrims from across the world can fully comprehend the pivotal sermon delivered on the Day of Arafat the most important day of the Hajj pilgrimage.
The languages to be supported this year include Amharic, Bengali, Bosnian, Chinese, English, Filipino, French, German, Hausa, Italian, Malay, Malayalam, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Turkish, and Urdu.
Officials stated that the live translation will be broadcast through various platforms, including radio, mobile applications, and dedicated websites, enabling pilgrims both on-site and around the world to follow the sermon in their native languages.
The Presidency emphasized that the initiative underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing the spiritual experience of pilgrims, in line with its broader Vision 2030 objectives to modernize and expand religious services.
The Arafat Khutbah is considered a cornerstone of the Hajj rituals, and by making it accessible to a broader audience, authorities hope to deepen pilgrims’ understanding and spiritual engagement during one of Islam’s most sacred rites.
This year’s expansion to 20 languages marks a doubling of the number of translations offered compared to previous years, further demonstrating efforts to serve the global Muslim community.
