Hajj Mabrur Flags Off Free Medical Screening for 2025 Pilgrims, Rolls Out Enhanced Travel Support

In a significant move to ensure the health and safety of Nigerian pilgrims, Hajj Mabrur Ventures Limited has commenced comprehensive medical screenings for its 2025 Hajj pilgrims. This initiative, which began on Friday, is part of the agency’s broader strategy to provide a seamless and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage experience.

The medical screenings, conducted at designated centers in Lagos and Abuja, encompass a range of tests including HIV, Hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis, urinalysis, pregnancy tests for women, full blood count, and kidney function assessments. These evaluations aim to identify any health issues that could pose risks during the physically demanding Hajj rituals. Dr. Mazeedat Erinosho, coordinator of the exercise, emphasized that the screenings are designed to promote health awareness and ensure all pilgrims are medically fit for the journey.

In addition to the health checks, Hajj Mabrur has unveiled a suite of enhanced support services for the 2025 pilgrimage. These include the introduction of a travel insurance package, a tracking system to monitor pilgrims’ movements, and the provision of local delicacies to cater to the dietary preferences of Nigerian pilgrims. Alhaji AbdulHameed Solate, CEO of Hajj Mabrur, stated that these measures are aimed at simplifying the pilgrimage process and ensuring the well-being of all participants.

The agency has also organized seminars featuring presentations from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Nigerian Immigration Service, and medical professionals to educate and sensitize intending pilgrims on various aspects of the Hajj journey. These sessions cover topics such as health precautions, legal requirements, and spiritual guidance.

Approximately 1,400 pilgrims from Lagos State are expected to perform the Hajj rites in 2025. The Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sponsored comprehensive medical screenings for these pilgrims, covering costs that previously stood at ₦50,000. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on pilgrims, particularly in light of the current economic challenges.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has retained the country’s 95,000 pilgrims allocation for the 2025 Hajj, with 75,000 slots for the government quota and 20,000 for the private sector. NAHCON has emphasized the importance of comprehensive medical screenings to reduce mortality rates during the pilgrimage, following the loss of 41 Nigerian pilgrims during the 2024 Hajj.

As preparations for the 2025 Hajj intensify, Hajj Mabrur’s proactive measures underscore a commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of Nigerian pilgrims, ensuring they embark on their spiritual journey with confidence and peace of mind.
