IGP Directs Nationwide Medical Outreach, Palliatives Distribution Ahead of National Police Day

As part of activities marking the 2025 National Police Day, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has instructed all state commands to organize free medical outreaches, distribute palliatives, and conduct humanitarian programs across the country.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, made this known in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, noting that the nationwide celebration, scheduled from April 2 to April 7, 2025, will also feature community engagement initiatives, security exhibitions, and outreach programs aimed at strengthening police-community relations.

Adejobi recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had, on April 19, 2024, officially designated April 7 as National Police Day during the Nigeria Police Award and Commendation Ceremony. The annual event is designed to honor the contributions, sacrifices, and achievements of police officers in ensuring national security.

Key Activities for National Police Day 2025:
April 4, 2025: Police Community Outreach Nationwide

April 5, 2025: Security Exhibition at Eagle Square, Abuja

April 6, 2025: Official Opening Ceremony & Walkathon Nationwide

April 7, 2025: Grand Parade & Procession at Eagle Square, Abuja

The celebration is expected to bring together government officials, security stakeholders, community leaders, and representatives from ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to honor the dedication and bravery of officers across the country.

A significant highlight of the event will be a special tribute to fallen officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

IGP Egbetokun reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s (NPF) commitment to professionalism and public service, urging Nigerians to actively participate in the celebrations and acknowledge the critical role police officers play in maintaining peace and security.
