Lagos, July 2, 2025 — The Lagos State Government has assured residents that the Ilubirin Foreshore Housing Project is progressing steadily and remains on course for completion by 2026.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, who stated that the mixed-use residential development located along the Lagos Lagoon is a flagship urban regeneration initiative under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration aimed at addressing the housing deficit in the state.
According to the Commissioner, the project, which is being executed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), has reached advanced stages of construction, with several residential blocks already nearing completion.
“The Ilubirin Foreshore Project is one of our strategic interventions to provide decent and affordable housing for Lagosians while also stimulating urban renewal and waterfront development. We are fully committed to its 2026 delivery timeline,” Akinderu-Fatai said.
He emphasized that beyond housing, the project incorporates commercial, recreational, and green spaces, which will create a sustainable community that supports liveability and economic activity. He also highlighted that quality control, environmental standards, and safety protocols are being strictly adhered to.
The government further reiterated that the housing project aligns with its broader THEMES Plus agenda, particularly in areas of urban infrastructure, housing development, and economic inclusion.
Residents and housing stakeholders have welcomed the update, expressing optimism that the completion of the Ilubirin Foreshore Estate will ease housing pressure in central Lagos and provide more modern accommodation options for the growing urban population.
