Immigration Officers Apprehend Enugu Native Doctor Linked to Child Ritual Killing, Hand Him Over to Lagos Police

Operatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos State Command, have handed over a suspected ritualist, Obi Levi Obieze, to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation into his alleged involvement in a chilling case of abduction and ritual killing in Enugu State.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development in an official statement released on Friday via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle. “ONGOING: @nigimmigration, Lagos State Command hands over wanted suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to @LagosPoliceNG at the Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja,” Hundeyin wrote.

Obieze, who is also known by the alias Levi Obu Onyeka, was arrested on May 29, 2025, at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road by vigilant immigration officers while attempting to flee the country on a motorcycle. His attempt to evade justice was foiled following credible intelligence linking him to a disturbing case involving the kidnapping and alleged ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in the Isiagu community of Enugu State.

The suspect, a self-proclaimed native doctor from Umuajor village in Enugu, was reportedly part of a three-man gang that abducted the girl on May 27, 2025. The incident occurred while the victim was accompanying her father to the farm. She was later rescued by law enforcement agents from a shrine allegedly connected to Obieze’s operations.

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, also confirmed the arrest in an official statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACI) AS Akinlabi, on Thursday. According to the statement, Obieze was on the police watchlist and had been declared wanted by the Enugu State Police Command.

“The suspect is a male individual wanted by the Nigeria Police Enugu State Command for alleged involvement in abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killing,” the immigration service disclosed.

Upon arrest, security operatives found a National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) enrollment slip in Obieze’s possession, which helped confirm his identity. Preliminary interrogation also revealed that the suspect confessed to the heinous crime.

The suspect is now in the custody of the Lagos State Police Command as investigations continue. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, particularly as security agencies ramp up efforts to curb ritual-related crimes and child exploitation across the country.
