The Imo State Police Command says it has arrested 789 suspects in the last two months for offences ranging from terrorism and kidnapping to armed robbery, cultism, child trafficking and murder.
The Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, disclosed that the arrests were made through intensified, intelligence-driven operations across the state. He added that several kidnapped victims and stolen children were rescued during the period, while 17 firearms, live ammunition and other dangerous weapons were recovered.
According to the Command, the sustained operations are part of efforts to curb violent crimes and dismantle criminal networks threatening peace and security in the state.
The police assured that all suspects currently in custody will be charged to court after investigations.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in Imo, urging residents to continue providing timely information that could aid crime prevention and security operations.
