The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced its readiness to commence a fresh voter registration exercise in Ondo State ahead of the upcoming governorship election scheduled for later in the year.
The announcement was made in a statement released by the Commission on Monday, July 15, 2025. INEC disclosed that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will begin in all 18 local government areas of the state on Monday, July 22, and will run for a period of two weeks.
According to the electoral body, the registration exercise will allow eligible citizens who are not yet registered to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), as well as give room for transfers, corrections of personal data, and replacement of lost or damaged PVCs.
INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, urged all eligible residents of Ondo State who are yet to be registered to take advantage of the exercise. He assured that the process will be transparent, inclusive, and conducted in compliance with electoral guidelines.
INEC also revealed that the CVR will be conducted at the ward level to ensure accessibility for residents across the state. Mobile registration teams will also be deployed to hard-to-reach communities to ensure no eligible voter is left out.
The Commission further reiterated its commitment to ensuring a credible, free, and fair governorship election in Ondo State, emphasizing that voter registration remains a critical component of the electoral process.
