Iran and Iraq Discuss Bilateral Security Cooperation in High-Level Meeting

Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, held talks with Qasim al-Araji, Iraq’s National Security Advisor, focusing on strengthening bilateral security cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

During the meeting in Tehran, both officials reviewed ongoing collaboration on counterterrorism efforts, border security, and regional stability. They discussed challenges posed by insurgent groups and emphasised the importance of joint strategies to ensure peace and security in the region.

Larijani highlighted Iran’s commitment to deepening ties with Iraq through increased intelligence sharing and coordinated military operations where necessary. Al-Araji reaffirmed Iraq’s dedication to fostering strong security partnerships to combat threats and promote sustainable peace.
