Islamic Institute Graduates Nine Qur’an Reciters, Honours YABATECH Rector and Others

The Mahdu Thaqoofatil Islamiyyah Li-Tahleemil Arobiy Al-Islamiy, also known as the Institute of Islamic Civilization, has graduated nine students in Qur’anic memorisation and recitation, as part of its efforts to promote Islamic scholarship and moral education in Nigeria.

The event, held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the institute’s premises in Itele, Ogun State, marked the institute’s first official Walimatul-Qur’an ceremony. The occasion drew clerics, academics, parents, and well-wishers from across the region.

The nine graduates, comprising six males and three females, completed intensive training in Qur’anic memorisation and were honoured for their mastery of the holy scripture. The graduating students are Adeleke Fawaz, Abduljelil Mubarak, Albarka Sofiyat, Abdulhakeem Idris, Awwal Abdurrahmon, Olalekan Halimoh, Adeleke Faruq, Yushau Hawau, and Ibraheem Abdussalam.

Speaking during the ceremony, renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Luqman Abdulmajeed Eleha applauded the students for their dedication. He emphasised that the Qur’an remains a timeless guide for all, regardless of age or profession. “The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) received the first revelation at the age of 40. This reminds us that it is never too late to begin the journey of spiritual enlightenment,” he said.

In addition to recognising the Qur’an reciters, the institute used the occasion to honour several individuals for their contributions to education and Islamic development. Among the recipients was the Rector of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), who was commended for his unwavering support towards educational initiatives and youth development.

The Director of the institute expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and reaffirmed the institute’s mission to produce well-rounded individuals who are not only grounded in Islamic knowledge but also equipped to contribute positively to society.

The graduation ceremony underscored the growing relevance of traditional Islamic education in modern society and the need to support institutions committed to moral and spiritual development.
