A shocking espionage scandal has rocked Israel’s security community as a female teacher has been arrested for allegedly spying for Iran. Authorities say the woman used a concealed mobile phone to secretly film military aircraft, including an Israeli fighter jet, and relayed the footage to Iranian intelligence operatives in exchange for cash payments.
According to Israeli security officials, the suspect, whose identity remains withheld for national security reasons, was caught during a counterintelligence operation. Investigators say she recorded sensitive military activity from a base near her residence, using the phone that had been specially provided to her by Iranian handlers.
The woman is believed to have been recruited through encrypted online channels and received substantial cash payments, delivered via intermediaries, for her cooperation. Her primary assignment allegedly involved surveillance of military flight patterns and ground activities at the airbase.
“This is a grave breach of national security,” a spokesperson for Israel’s Shin Bet internal security agency said. “She used her position and proximity to sensitive military operations to gather and transmit classified information to a hostile foreign entity.”
The arrest comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, with Tel Aviv frequently accusing Tehran of orchestrating covert operations through sleeper agents and cyber proxies.
The suspect is currently in custody and is expected to be charged with espionage, aiding a foreign enemy, and endangering state security. Israeli authorities have assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to prevent further breaches.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the information compromised and whether other individuals were involved in the plot.
