The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a resit opportunity for candidates who sat the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) but were adversely affected by a technical error during the examination process.
The board disclosed that an unpatched system glitch disrupted the smooth conduct of the exam for some candidates, leading to incomplete or invalid results. To ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of the examination, JAMB has arranged a resit specifically for those impacted.
In a statement released today, JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede,
the public that the board is committed to providing every candidate with a fair chance to demonstrate their abilities. “We recognize the challenges faced by some candidates due to the technical issues, and we are taking steps to rectify the situation through a resit exercise,” he said.
The resit is scheduled to hold within the next few weeks, with affected candidates receiving notifications through their registered contact details. JAMB has also urged candidates to regularly check official communication channels for updates and instructions.
This move follows widespread complaints from candidates and parents about unexplained disruptions and technical difficulties encountered during the initial examination window. Education stakeholders have welcomed the resit announcement as a positive step to uphold examination fairness.
JAMB remains committed to deploying improved technological safeguards to prevent future disruptions and to uphold the credibility of the UTME as Nigeria’s premier university entrance examination.
