John Terry Believes Former Teammate John Obi Mikel shine in the EPL 

Former Chelsea captain John Terry has expressed strong confidence in ex-Super Eagles midfielder John Obi Mikel, asserting that the Nigerian veteran still possesses the quality to thrive in the English Premier League (EPL). Terry, who shared the pitch with Mikel during their trophy-laden years at Stamford Bridge, highlighted the 36-year-old’s experience, leadership, and tactical intelligence as key assets that could benefit any top-flight club. 

In a recent interview, Terry lauded Mikel’s enduring capabilities, stating, “Mikel is a class act. People forget how vital he was to Chelsea’s success—his reading of the game, composure under pressure, and ability to control midfield are timeless. Even now, he has so much to offer. The Premier League demands intelligence, and his experience would be invaluable.” 

Mikel, who left Chelsea in 2017 after an 11-year stint that included two EPL titles, a UEFA Champions League triumph, and four FA Cup wins, has since played in China, Turkey, and Kuwait. Despite his age, Terry dismissed concerns about his former teammate’s adaptability, emphasizing that Mikel’s professionalism and football IQ outweigh physical demands. “He’s kept himself in great shape. Clubs shouldn’t underestimate what a player like him brings to the dressing room and the pitch,” Terry added. 

The endorsement comes amid speculation about Mikel’s potential return to England, with recent reports linking him to coaching roles. However, Terry’s comments suggest the midfielder could still contribute as a player, potentially mentoring younger talents while anchoring midfields.
