June 12: Governor Okpebholo Urges Nigerians to Uphold Democracy, Justice, Unity

The Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has urged all residents of Edo State and Nigerians at large to reflect on the enduring significance of June 12, a day now widely recognized as Nigeria’s Democracy Day.

In his Democracy Day message, Governor Okpebholo described June 12 as a symbol of the Nigerian people’s struggle for democratic governance, justice, and the rule of law, noting that the lessons of the day remain relevant for the country’s democratic journey.

He called on citizens to renew their commitment to national unity, democratic values, and responsible civic engagement, stressing that the sacrifices made in the past must not be in vain.

“As we remember this important day in our history, let us recommit ourselves to the ideals of democracy, uphold justice, and work together for a united and prosperous Nigeria,” the governor stated.

Governor Okpebholo also reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to inclusive governance, peace, and sustainable development in Edo State.
