August 3, 2025 — The Katsina Emirate Council has appointed former Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, as the new District Head of Shargalle in Dutsi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The appointment, confirmed by the council on Saturday, marks Senator Sirika’s formal transition into traditional leadership within his native community. The decision was made in recognition of his longstanding public service and contributions to national development, particularly in the aviation sector.
Sirika, who previously served as a senator representing Katsina North Senatorial District before his ministerial appointment, is expected to bring his wealth of administrative experience and leadership to his new traditional role.
Council officials stated that his selection followed due consultation with kingmakers and stakeholders within the emirate, in line with customary procedures governing district leadership appointments.
As District Head, Sirika will oversee the affairs of Shargalle and serve as a critical link between the local community and the emirate council, playing a key role in grassroots governance, cultural preservation, and community development.
The appointment has drawn mixed reactions, with supporters lauding the emirate’s decision as a step toward integrating experienced public figures into traditional institutions, while others called for continued focus on community needs and inclusive leadership.
