Kevin De Bruyne Announces Departure from Manchester City at Season’s End

Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed that he will leave Manchester City at the conclusion of the current season, ending a remarkable ten-year tenure at the club that saw him win every major trophy available.

In an emotional open letter shared with fans on his social media platforms on Friday, the Belgian playmaker revealed that the remaining months of the season would be his final ones at the Etihad Stadium. “Nothing about this is easy to write, but as football players, we all know this day eventually comes. That day is here—and you deserve to hear it from me first,” he wrote.

Reflecting on his journey in Manchester, De Bruyne expressed deep gratitude to the city and its people for transforming his life. “Football led me to all of you and to this city. Chasing my dream, not knowing this period would change my life. This city. This club. These people… gave me EVERYTHING. I had no choice but to give EVERYTHING back!” he said, emphasizing the profound impact Manchester City and the city itself had on him.

He went on to highlight the success he achieved with the club, stating, “And guess what—we won EVERYTHING,” as he recalled the numerous titles City secured during his time, including Premier League titles, FA Cups, and the coveted UEFA Champions League trophy.

The 33-year-old, who joined Manchester City from Wolfsburg in 2015, spoke fondly of how the city became home for him and his family. “Suri, Rome, Mason, Michèle, and I are beyond grateful for what this place has meant to our family. ‘Manchester’ will forever be on our kids’ passports—and more importantly, in each of our hearts. This will always be our HOME,” he added.

De Bruyne also took the opportunity to thank the club, its staff, teammates, and supporters, describing his time at Manchester City as “the best chapter” of his career. “We cannot thank the city, club, staff, teammates, friends, and family enough for this 10-year ride. Every story comes to an end, but this has definitely been the best chapter,” he wrote.

As he enters his final months at the club, De Bruyne urged fans to cherish the remaining moments of his journey at Manchester City, saying, “Let’s enjoy these last moments together!”

Wearing the number 17 shirt, the Belgian midfielder remains a pivotal figure in City’s campaign as they continue to fight for more silverware before his departure.
