Tinubu Commends NDDC for Organizing Niger Delta Sports Festival, Says it Will Promote Peace and Youth Development

President Bola Tinubu has praised the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for organizing the inaugural Niger Delta Sports Festival, which he believes will promote peace, youth development, and community development in the region. The festival, held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, is the first of its kind and aims to bring together young sports talents from the region.

Tinubu, represented by National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko, commended the NDDC for its initiative, stating that the festival will foster youth development, promote peace, and contribute to economic growth. He also noted that the competition will boost grassroots sports development and complement the federal government’s structural reforms in the sports sector.

The President observed that the NDDC’s foresight will create room for more participation and interest in sports among state governments in the region. He also commended the Akwa Ibom state government for its continued support for the promotion and development of sports in the country.

The Niger Delta Sports Festival features about 3,000 athletes and 500 officials competing in 17 sports. The festival is part of the NDDC’s efforts to promote peace, unity, and development in the Niger Delta region.
