Lagos Safety Commission Sensitises Lands Bureau Staff on Risk Prevention

Alausa, Lagos – July, 2025

As part of its continuous efforts to promote workplace safety and strengthen a proactive safety culture in public institutions, the Lagos State Safety Commission has conducted a comprehensive risk prevention and safety awareness session for staff of the Lands Bureau at the Secretariat in Alausa.

The session, which took place earlier this week, focused on sensitising personnel on practical strategies to identify, manage, and prevent workplace hazards. It covered key topics including fire safety, emergency response protocols, health and environmental safety, and basic first aid techniques.

Speaking during the exercise, the Director-General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, emphasized the need for all ministries, departments, and agencies to take proactive steps in preventing occupational accidents and enhancing overall safety consciousness among staff.

“This initiative is in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision to institutionalize a strong safety culture across Lagos State’s public and private sectors. Prevention is cheaper than cure. We must all learn to identify potential risks in our workspaces before they escalate,” Mojola noted.

He added that the Commission will continue to intensify collaboration with other government agencies to ensure that safety education is not only implemented but becomes second nature in public service operations.

Participants expressed gratitude for the eye-opening session and pledged to integrate the lessons into their daily office routines. The training also featured interactive demonstrations on fire extinguisher use and emergency evacuation procedures.

The Lagos State Safety Commission reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safer work environments across all sectors in the state.
