Lagos, Nigeria – June 14, 2025
The Lagos State Government has announced plans to begin the strict enforcement of the Electronic Call-Up (E-Call-Up) system for tankers and articulated vehicles operating along the Lekki-Epe corridor.
The move is part of efforts to ease traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and promote orderly vehicular movement in the rapidly growing commercial axis.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Transportation, the Commissioner, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the enforcement will begin in phases and target all heavy-duty vehicles accessing the corridor, including those headed to the Lekki Deep Sea Port and Dangote Refinery.
“The Lekki-Epe axis is becoming a major economic hub, and it is important to have an efficient traffic management system to support its growth. The E-Call-Up system is designed to schedule and control the movement of tankers and trailers to prevent road obstruction and accidents,” Osiyemi stated.
He emphasized that only vehicles duly registered and scheduled on the electronic platform will be granted access, warning that defaulters will be fined and possibly impounded.
Stakeholders, including logistics operators, law enforcement agencies, and community representatives, have been engaged in sensitization meetings ahead of the implementation.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other relevant agencies are expected to monitor compliance and ensure smooth operation of the system.
