The Lagos State Government has organised a strategic capacity-building workshop aimed at enhancing the efficiency and performance of staff in Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state.
The workshop, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, focused on job descriptions, performance targets, and improved service delivery at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Hon. Bolaji Kayode Robert, said the initiative was in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to strengthening governance structures at the local level.
“We are committed to repositioning LGAs and LCDAs as the first point of contact for citizens. For this to happen, job roles must be clearly defined, and performance metrics must be actively tracked,” the Commissioner said.
He added that the workshop would promote accountability, streamline operations, and foster a culture of excellence among council workers.
Participants at the training included executive chairmen, council managers, and heads of departments from various LGAs and LCDAs. Many attendees expressed optimism that the workshop would lead to more responsive and responsible local governance.
