Liverpool Face Palace Test As Premier League Title Race Heats Up

Premier League leaders Liverpool face a significant challenge this weekend as they travel to face unbeaten Crystal Palace in Saturday’s early kick-off at Selhurst Park.

Arne Slot’s side have made a perfect start to their title defence, winning all five league games to open a five-point gap at the top. However, they confront an in-form Palace team under Oliver Glasner that remains the only other unbeaten side in the division.

The Eagles have already shown they can trouble Liverpool, beating them on penalties in August’s Community Shield and earning a draw at Anfield in last season’s finale. Palace are currently on a 16-match unbeaten run stretching back to April.

Second-placed Arsenal, who trail Liverpool by five points, cannot afford to slip further behind when they visit Newcastle on Sunday. The Gunners have lost on their last three trips to St James’ Park, including both Premier League and Cup fixtures last season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim seeks back-to-back league wins for the first time in his tenure when his side face struggling Brentford. United have shown signs of improvement with consecutive home wins against Burnley and Chelsea, but suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat at Manchester City between those victories.
