MAN Urges FG to Prioritise Indigenous Manufacturers in Lagos Airport Project

August 25, 2025 — The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has called on the Federal Government to give priority to indigenous manufacturers and contractors in the execution of the Lagos Airport redevelopment project.

The appeal was made in a statement by MAN, stressing that involving local industries in the massive infrastructure project would not only boost Nigeria’s economy but also create jobs, transfer skills, and strengthen the nation’s industrial base.

According to the association, Nigeria has the capacity and expertise in various sectors, including construction materials, engineering, and technology, to contribute meaningfully to the project. MAN noted that relying heavily on foreign contractors could limit opportunities for local businesses while draining scarce foreign exchange reserves.

The association further argued that the airport redevelopment presents an opportunity for the government to showcase its commitment to promoting local content and supporting homegrown innovation.

Industry watchers said the call aligns with Nigeria’s economic diversification agenda, as increased local participation in such projects could reduce import dependency and enhance self-reliance in infrastructure development.

The Federal Government is expected to announce details of the Lagos Airport redevelopment plan in the coming weeks.
