MAPOLY Sets June 24 for 15th Combined Convocation Ceremony

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, has officially fixed Tuesday, June 24, 2025, for its long-awaited 15th Combined Convocation Ceremony. The event, which will take place within the institution’s premises, is set to celebrate a significant milestone, as it encompasses graduating students from nine academic sessions, spanning from 2015/2016 to 2023/2024.

In a statement made available to journalists by the Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. Yemi Ajibola, the institution disclosed that deserving graduands will receive their National Diplomas (ND) and Higher National Diplomas (HND) during the convocation. The landmark ceremony, which marks the first convocation in several years, is expected to attract dignitaries from across the country and beyond.

Highlighting the activities lined up for the occasion, the statement noted that the Convocation Lecture will be delivered by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. (Dr.) Abike Dabiri-Erewa. She is billed to speak on the topic, ‘Diaspora Perspective and the Influence of STEM in the Globalized World of Today’. The lecture will hold at the Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) Auditorium of the institution and is scheduled to commence by 11:00 a.m. prompt.

MAPOLY’s management also revealed that, as part of the convocation week, there will be several other ceremonial events to celebrate academic excellence and institutional progress. These include the Presentation of Prizes to Outstanding Students, the Conferment of Fellowship Honours and Special Awards to distinguished individuals who have contributed meaningfully to societal development, as well as Exhibitions showcasing the innovation and creativity of students. A Distinguished Alumni Award Night is also part of the program, designed to honour notable former students who have made their mark in various sectors.

In addition to the academic and celebratory aspects, spiritual services have also been incorporated into the schedule. A Special Jum’at Service will be observed at the Central Mosque within the institution, while a Thanksgiving Service will hold at the institution’s Chapel to round off the convocation activities.

The statement further confirmed that Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who serves as the Moderator of the Polytechnic, is expected to grace the event as the Special Guest of Honour. The Rector of the institution, Dr. ‘Koye Jolaoso, will formally welcome guests, including members of the Polytechnic’s Governing Council, as the Chief Host.

The 15th Combined Convocation of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic marks a significant step in the institution’s ongoing efforts to restore its academic calendar and reposition itself as a leading centre of technical and vocational education in Nigeria.
