Minister Adelabu Pledges Steady Electricity Supply Nationwide Before 2027

ABUJA, August 4, 2025 — The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has assured Nigerians that the country will enjoy uninterrupted electricity supply before the end of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in 2027.

Speaking during an official engagement in Abuja, Adelabu emphasized that strategic reforms are already being implemented across the electricity value chain, aimed at stabilizing generation, transmission, and distribution. He stated that the Tinubu-led government is committed to achieving reliable and affordable power supply as a core pillar of its Renewed Hope agenda.

The Minister pointed to ongoing investments in infrastructure upgrades, debt restructuring with generating companies, expansion of transmission capacity, and enhanced regulatory oversight as key interventions. He also disclosed plans to attract more private sector investment and introduce advanced metering technologies to address revenue losses and reduce estimated billing.

While acknowledging existing challenges, including power theft, gas supply issues, and technical losses, Adelabu expressed confidence that the ministry’s coordinated approach, along with continued government support, would drastically improve electricity availability within the next two years.

The promise of stable power aligns with broader national development goals, including industrial growth, job creation, and improved living standards. The Minister urged Nigerians to support the reforms while assuring them of transparency and accountability in delivering the power sector roadmap.
