Lagos, Nigeria — June 16, 2025
The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC), Nigeria, has issued a powerful statement condemning the ongoing violence in Benue State, describing it as a national tragedy and a moral failure that should shake the conscience of every Nigerian.
In a press release titled “Enough of the Bloodshed – Nigeria Must Act Now to End the Killings in Benue State”, the organisation expressed deep grief and outrage at the recurring massacres of innocent men, women, and children in the state, calling it a “stain on the soul of Nigeria.”
MPAC condemned the attacks in the strongest possible terms, stressing that the sanctity of human life is inviolable and must be protected at all costs. “No family, no community should be forced to live under the threat of violence and abandonment,” the statement read.
The group urged the Federal Government, the Government of Benue State, and all security agencies to move beyond routine condemnations and take bold, intelligence-driven action to halt the bloodshed. “Enough of the rhetoric. The time for action is now,” MPAC insisted.
Beyond government intervention, MPAC also appealed to religious leaders, traditional rulers, and civil society organisations to rise above silence and indifference, warning that such apathy only emboldens evil.
“We stand in solidarity with the people of Benue State and extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved,” MPAC stated, while also praying for the swift recovery of the injured and divine guidance for the nation’s leaders.
The statement concludes with a firm demand for immediate, effective, and lasting measures to end the violence and restore the dignity of Nigeria.
