The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) today, Monday, May 5, 2025, inaugurated its Central Security Committee as part of preparations for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage. The ceremony took place at the Hajj House in Abuja, with the Chairman/CEO of NAHCON, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, leading the event alongside his Commissioners and management staff.
The Central Security Committee has been tasked with overseeing and coordinating all security operations to ensure the safety of Nigerian pilgrims during the Hajj. This move is part of NAHCON’s proactive approach to guarantee a smooth and secure experience for the pilgrims. The committee is expected to work closely with both local and international security agencies to provide a robust security framework for the 2025 pilgrimage.
In addition to the committee’s inauguration, NAHCON announced that its advance team, comprising key personnel from various departments, including medical and operational experts, has already departed for Saudi Arabia. The advance team will collaborate with Saudi authorities and service providers to finalize arrangements for the upcoming Hajj season, ensuring that every aspect of the operation is ready before the arrival of Nigerian pilgrims.
Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman expressed confidence that the combination of the Central Security Committee and the early deployment of the advance team would contribute to the success of the 2025 Hajj. He emphasized that NAHCON is committed to providing a secure, efficient, and hassle-free pilgrimage experience for Nigerians undertaking the sacred journey.
The inauguration of the security committee and the deployment of the advance team are vital components of NAHCON’s comprehensive plan to ensure the smooth execution of Hajj 2025, safeguarding the well-being of all Nigerian pilgrims and maintaining the integrity of the pilgrimage process.
