NASENI CEO Receives Global Recognition at UK Parliament for Advancing Africa’s Industrial Innovation

Abuja, July 25, 2025

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has been honoured at the United Kingdom Parliament for his exceptional role in propelling Africa’s industrial innovation and technology-driven development.

The prestigious recognition was conferred during a special session hosted at the Palace of Westminster, the seat of the British Parliament, where Mr. Halilu was celebrated for championing transformative initiatives aimed at repositioning Nigeria and Africa on the global map of scientific advancement and industrial competitiveness.

Speaking at the event, organisers praised Halilu’s leadership at NASENI, particularly for pioneering projects that promote local content, industrial research, and capacity building in engineering and innovation. His efforts, they noted, have significantly contributed to strengthening Africa’s self-reliance in manufacturing and technology-based solutions.

The NASENI boss, in his remarks, dedicated the honour to the Nigerian government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attributing the agency’s achievements to the administration’s support for innovation, industrial development, and sustainable growth. He emphasized that NASENI’s vision is anchored on building homegrown technologies that solve local problems, boost employment, and reduce dependence on imports.

“This recognition is a validation of the hard work we’re doing at NASENI and a call to do more. Africa’s future lies in its ability to innovate for itself, and this is the spirit driving our work every day,” Halilu stated.

His recognition at the UK Parliament adds to a growing list of international commendations, further positioning NASENI as a beacon of indigenous innovation and industrial progress on the African continent.
