NASFAT Lagos Zone 2 Empowers Over 60 Youths with Solar and Inverter Training

Lagos, Nigeria – June 18, 2025
In a move aimed at fostering youth empowerment, economic self-reliance, and promoting renewable energy adoption, NASFAT Lagos Zone 2 has successfully graduated over 60 participants from its Solar and Inverter Installation Training Programme.

The graduation ceremony, held on June 14, 2025, at the NASFAT Iyana-Ipaja branch, marked the conclusion of a 10-week intensive training facilitated by the Zonal Economic Empowerment Committee (ZEEC). The initiative is part of NASFAT’s commitment to equipping young Nigerians with vocational skills aligned with modern energy demands and sustainability goals.

Delivering the keynote address, Zonal Chairman, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jumah Adebayo, described the programme as a strategic response to Nigeria’s energy and unemployment challenges. “This training is not just a skill acquisition programme—it is a life-changing opportunity for our youths to create value for themselves and contribute to national development,” he said.

Participants received hands-on training in solar power system design, PV panel installation, inverter configuration, energy storage management, and maintenance, under the guidance of certified experts including Engr. Afolabi Abdullateef of Folatect Electrical Services and Mallam Raheem Adedamola Damilola.

Certificates were awarded to all successful trainees, enhancing their employability and entrepreneurial prospects. The programme was offered free of charge, reinforcing NASFAT’s commitment to social impact and youth development.

Chairman of the Day, Alhaji Luqman Moyosore, FCA, urged the graduates to pursue excellence and innovation beyond the classroom. The event also featured goodwill messages from prominent NASFAT stakeholders, including Engr. Nurudeen Ajala, Alhaja Mistura Bolarinwa, and Alhaja Aisha Busari, who encouraged the graduates to continue learning and to become agents of change in their communities.

A special highlight was the recognition of the only female graduate with a ₦10,000 cash award from the Mother of the Day, Alhaja Mistura Bolarinwa, to promote gender inclusion in technical fields.

NASFAT’s Zonal Publicity Secretary, Engr. Fatai Shodunke MNSE, emphasized that the success of the programme reflects the organization’s broader vision of integrating faith-based values with practical empowerment for sustainable development.

Graduates expressed appreciation for the life-changing experience. One of them, Hamzat Razaq, shared: “Before this training, I didn’t have direction. Now, I’m ready to launch my own solar business.”

The Zonal Missioner, Sheikh Dr. AbdulRasheed Asamu, offered prayers for the success of the graduates and facilitators, while Mr. Jamiu Rasaki, the Zonal Economic Empowerment Secretary, reaffirmed the Zone’s commitment to scaling such initiatives across Lagos.

The training programme is part of NASFAT’s effort to bridge the gap between spiritual growth and socio-economic empowerment by tackling real-world challenges with innovative, faith-inspired solutions.
