President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Makurdi, the capital city of Benue State, as the state continues to reel from the shock of recent deadly attacks that left several people dead and many others wounded.
The President’s plane landed at the Makurdi Airport around 12.58 pm on Tuesday. The airport is located inside the Tactical Air Command of the Nigerian Air Force Base.
Tinubu’s visit comes just days after a brutal attack in Yelwata community in Guma Local Government Area that sparked widespread outrage across Nigeria. Dozens of innocent lives were reportedly lost in the violence, leaving families in mourning and communities in fear.
The President is expected to hold a closed-door meeting with top leaders and stakeholders in the state to address the security crisis and find lasting solutions to the rising wave of violence.
His visit has raised hopes among many residents that urgent steps will now be taken to stop the bloodshed and restore peace in troubled areas.
