NASFAT Medical Committee rescues Accident Victim Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

An accident victim,.identified as Mr. Abiodun Oso, was rescued at the brink of death by the Medical Emergency Committee of the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society NASFAT, earlier this morning, during the organisation’s annual Laylatul Qodr Programme at Km 36, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Asese, Ogun State.

Kiin Media gathered that the man, who appeared in his early 50s, was involved in the said accident, while driving in his Toyota Car, traveling along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway corridor, enroute Ibadan when the accident happened around 1:45am on Saturday.

Eyewitness account said Oso was driving when he lost balance, and in the process of swerving trying to balance, had his car brushed off the road by an oncoming loaded truck.

The said truck was suspected to be heading towards the same destination. He did not stop to attend to the accident he had caused.

One of NASFAT’S Senior Security Personnel, who witnessed the incident, Alhaji Akanni Olaosebikan, said upon seeing what happened, he immediately alerted the medical team for action.

“This accident happened around 2:00am.. The driver was traveling towards Ibadan. Perhaps he entered a gallop or he lost his balance, and in the process of balancing, swerving to the right and left, he was hit by an oncoming loaded truck, who did not even looked back to attend the emergency.

“The man lost control of himself and the vehicle. He was stopped by the culvert,”

The Medical Team of NASFAT, which was stationed inside the NASFAT Islamic Center to attend likely emergency during the Laylatul Qodr, immediately swung into action, rescuing the accident victim from death

Dr. Akeem Agboola, the National Health Service Secretary of NASFAT and the Emergency Medical Team Lead, told Kiin Media that for their immediate response, the victim would have lost his life.

He narrated their intervention:

“The security personnel came to call us that there was an accident that had just happened on the Expressway.

“And that there was a man involved who was still conscious as at the time of the incident. That we should come and rescue his life.

” So, we quickly responded and went with an ambulance.

“On getting there, we saw that he sustained severe injury on the frontal part of his head, and the chick.

“There was deep laceration on the frontal part. However, the skull appeared intact. Also, the lesser omentum and the left iliac artery were ruptured..

“So, we quickly checked his vital signs and administered resuscitation interventions on him before he was rushed to the Ogun State General Hospital at Sagamu,” he narrated.

While he was being resusciitated, a member o the medical team, scrolled through Oso’s phone and located his son, Mr Kunle, who resides in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Kunle immediately responded that he was already on his way to come and takeover the care of his father.

As the man was being wheeler into the ambulance for departure to the General Hospital, for urgent and comprehensive medical attention, his relative, who simply identified himself as Engr. Saka, arrived at NASFAT Praying ground to attend the accident victim.

According to him, “Oso had just left my place. He was going home to his family. Thank you so much NASFAT for saving his life,” he said, as he exhibits a bit of perplexities whole trying to soak in the reality of what had just happened to his loved one.
