NFIU CEO Leads Delegation on Courtesy Visit to Foreign Affairs Minister

Mrs. Hafsat Abubakar Bakari, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja. 

The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between the NFIU and the Ministry in combating financial crimes and enhancing Nigeria’s compliance with international anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing standards. 

During the meeting, Mrs. Bakari emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding Nigeria’s financial system against illicit activities.  She highlighted the NFIU’s role in providing intelligence to support national security and economic stability. 

Ambassador Tuggar commended the NFIU’s efforts and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote financial integrity and transparency.  He acknowledged the critical role of financial intelligence in shaping Nigeria’s foreign policy and international relations. 

Both parties agreed to establish a framework for regular information exchange and joint training programs to enhance the capacity of personnel in detecting and preventing financial crimes. 

The courtesy visit underscores the Nigerian government’s dedication to fostering inter-agency collaboration in the fight against financial crimes and aligning with global best practices.
