The Nigeria education loan fund ‘NELFUND’ an initiative of the federal government of Nigeria under president Bola Ahmed Tinubu is aimed at providing soft loan which is zero interest for students of higher institutions of learning to make their educational carriers more easier so that Nigeria students can be more focused on their learning and come out in flying colors at the end of their academic pursuit.
The NELFUND in a recent analysis of who is more beneficial to the scheme have given the list of twelve most beneficial of the students loan categorizing them by geopolitical zones of North Central, North East, North West and the south west according to the statistics.
The NELFUND analysis shows that students from the North West top the table with katsina state taking the lead with (36,015 ) thirty six thousand and fifteen students being the beneficiary so far, followed by Kano State having thirty five thousand eight hundred and eighty one (35881)students having access to the loan within the first disbursement , white kaduna state from the same region have gotten not less than thirty two thousand, seven hundred and three students (32703) that have received the loan,Gigawa state is another state of the North West whose beneficiary is up to twenty thousand, two hundred and thirty six students,sokoto state got the list from the north west region with eighteen thousand, four hundred and fifty one students that the scheme have greatly impacted their educational carrier positively, the North West alone having one hundred and fifty two thousand,three bucks and thirty six students (152,336) who have enjoyed the loan so far.
North East region has only three states but with more numbers of students, where Borno state have provided forty two thousand, five hundred and ninety eight students, while Bauchi and Gombe have twenty three thousand, one hundred and sixty eight (23168) and Nineteen thousand, five hundred and sixteen (19516) respectfully.
The south west region where the president comes from is having oyo,Ekiti and Lagos as three major states, with oyo State students who have benefited in the loan are twenty five thousand, four hundred and seventy two thousand (25472),Ekiti state students are Eighteen thousand,four hundred and fifty one while Lagos state is having the least of all beneficiaries with sixteen thousand,six hundred and eleven students that have been given the loan successfully.
North Central region has only plateau State with twenty two thousand,three hundred and five students (22,303)according to NELFUND as released on statisence social media for public information to keep Nigerians abreast of the true story of the disbursement exercise carried out so far in the year 2025.
