The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has officially welcomed its newly appointed Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu in the early hours of Wednesday.
In a statement released by NNPCL spokesperson Olufemi Soneye, the company’s management and staff extended their gratitude to the outgoing GCEO, Mele Kyari, and the former board members for their contributions to the organization and the nation.
“We extend our profound appreciation to the outgoing GCEO, Mr Mele Kyari, and the former Board Members for their selfless and dedicated service to the company and to the nation,” the statement read. “Mr Kyari’s leadership and tireless efforts have left an indelible mark on NNPC Ltd., and we are sincerely grateful for his outstanding contributions.”
The statement further conveyed well wishes to Kyari and the departing board members, expressing hopes for “continued success and fulfilment in their future endeavours.”

President Tinubu’s decision to appoint Ojulari comes as part of a broader restructuring of the NNPCL board, signaling potential shifts in the national oil company’s operations and strategy. The new appointment takes immediate effect, with Ojulari expected to assume his responsibilities without delay.
The leadership change at Nigeria’s premier oil company comes at a critical time for the nation’s energy sector, which continues to face challenges including production targets, infrastructure development, and ongoing reforms in the petroleum industry.
Industry observers will be watching closely to see what direction Ojulari takes the company in the coming months, particularly regarding ongoing projects and strategic partnerships that were initiated under Kyari’s leadership.
