Northern CAN: Tinubu Means Well, But Nigerians Losing Patience

Abuja, Nigeria | September 8, 2025

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Northern chapter, has acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s good intentions for the country but warned that citizens’ patience is wearing thin as economic and security challenges deepen.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday, Chairman of Northern CAN, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, said while the administration has introduced several reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy and tackling insecurity, the hardship being faced by ordinary Nigerians continues to erode public confidence.

“President Tinubu has shown commitment and a strong desire to move Nigeria forward. However, citizens are groaning under inflation, unemployment, and worsening security threats. People are fast running out of patience,” Hayab said.

He urged the Federal Government to match its policy statements with concrete actions that bring immediate relief to Nigerians, stressing that prolonged hardship could trigger frustration and unrest.

The cleric further advised the government to engage citizens more openly, strengthen dialogue with faith-based and community leaders, and ensure that its economic measures have a direct impact on the cost of living.

Hayab also called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and united, noting that the success of the administration would depend on collective effort, transparency, and decisive governance.
