Abuja, Nigeria – June 28, 2025
The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed, has called on corps members deployed across the country to accept their postings in good faith and serve with commitment and patriotism.
Speaking during an address to corps members at a swearing-in ceremony held in a state orientation camp, the DG emphasized that the essence of the NYSC scheme is to foster national unity, integration, and grassroots development. He advised the new intakes to approach their assignments with open minds and a sense of responsibility, irrespective of location or sector.
“Your postings are done in the national interest, with careful consideration to promote unity and development across Nigeria. Accept your places of primary assignment with dedication, humility, and the drive to make a difference,” he said.
Brig. Gen. Ahmed reminded the corps members that their service year is a period of national learning, character building, and selfless contribution to nation-building. He encouraged them to be good ambassadors of their families and institutions, uphold the NYSC ideals, and remain law-abiding at all times.
He further assured them that the NYSC management is committed to their welfare and safety, working in partnership with state governments, security agencies, and relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth service year.
The Director-General also urged employers and community leaders to support corps members posted to their organizations and localities by providing a conducive environment for them to serve effectively.
The swearing-in ceremony featured the administration of the oath of allegiance, presided over by a Chief Judge or representative, marking the formal beginning of the 2025 Batch B Stream I orientation course across Nigeria.
