The Ogun State Government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the welfare, protection, and development of children across the state, as it joined the rest of the nation in commemorating the 2025 Children’s Day celebration.
In a heartfelt message on Tuesday, the state government described children as the “heartbeat of our future,” emphasizing their importance in the continued progress and prosperity of the state and the nation at large.
“Today, we celebrate the joy, innocence, and boundless potential of our children,” the statement read. “They are not just our hope for tomorrow but the builders of a brighter, more inclusive society. As a government, we remain committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment where every child in Ogun State can thrive, dream, and achieve greatness.”
Children’s Day, marked annually on May 27 in Nigeria, serves as a national reminder of the responsibilities governments, communities, and families share in protecting and uplifting the rights and dignity of every child.
The Ogun State Government highlighted several child-centered initiatives currently underway, including investments in quality education, healthcare access, child protection services, and skill development programs designed to empower young people from diverse backgrounds.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, in earlier addresses, has consistently reiterated his administration’s focus on youth development and child safety, stating that “no investment in children is too much, because they represent the seeds of our collective destiny.”
The government also used the opportunity to call on parents, guardians, educators, and civil society organizations to partner with it in building an environment where no child is left behind—regardless of their social or economic background.
As part of the Children’s Day celebrations, several events were held across Ogun’s local government areas, including cultural parades, quiz competitions, and forums focused on child rights and protection.
The 2025 theme, “For Every Child, Every Right,” echoes the call for inclusive policies and sustainable action to address the needs of children, particularly those at risk of marginalization and abuse.
With a renewed commitment to safeguarding the dreams of its youngest citizens, the Ogun State Government reassured families across the state that children would remain at the centre of its development agenda.
